Photographic magazines

Postby thelps » Sat Mar 14, 2009 9:54 am

With so many forums and so much photography information on the Internet, I am wondering what Photography related magazines do you buy or subscribe to? :?:

I used to get Pop Photo and Modern Photography from the USA. I often bought some UK based publications and while we do have some here in Australia I only bought them occasionally. In the last few years its been less affordable.

to be honest with you i don't buy them anymore, they are expensive as you say and just go round in circles with the seasons as what to shoot/buy/use ......if i want inspiration i go to flickr or photo.net...............once I've read a mag once and flicked through it a few times again i generally just pass them on or recycle em and count the pounds i've just chucked away............

I don't buy them either. In the past I used to buy several local photo magazines. But I found them more or less the same, full of adds and useless reviews. Internet is far better place to get the latest news, reviews and photography inspiration. But from time to time I'm still buying some photography books. Last time I bought

I'm glad its not just me then that finds them expensive. I would consider this one http://www.lenswork.com/ Seems to be more about fine art photography, a little less about the camera.

Ag magazine is great. The only one that I subscribe to. It comes from Britain. It is all about photography, not cameras.

I like Black & White Photography. Lots to inspire me anyway. Bit of camera news, but otherwise pics and techniques.

Looooong ago, I bought ComputerFoto, probably the first German magazines covering digital cameras. But it left the market several years ago (anyone interested in my -- incomplete -- collection of magazines and CDs for historical reasons?).
Currently, I have subscribed to Chasseur d'Image although I do not speak French (it has also become a habit of mine to buy photo magazines in France during vacation...). BTW, the CX5 did not get a favorable review there just recently...
Best regards, Gerd

There are too much magazines about new material or about computer work.
Each sesaon we can see the same thing than on year ago. So it becomes unuseful!
There's just one that I still buy: PHOTO, a little fool but just about photo and photographs...
From GRD to X100... the same emotion!

I second or third Lenswork, very nice B&W, plus I still get LFI the Leica magazine they still do some interesting articles. Other then that they all seem to be the same. How to take landscapes in the spring, how to expose for snow in the fall and introduction to B&W digital images over and over again.
