Adaptor & hood

Postby Ripbab » Thu May 24, 2012 3:39 pm

Spent far to long yesterday trying to find a UK dealer that actually had, the listed GH-2 hood and adaptor.
I spoke at length to one who actually emailed Ricoh to find out if they could send one to me direct. But even
they struck unlucky. I finally ended up ordering a £20 JJC brand from China. I have used the dealer before
and i find JJC kit to be not half bad. Ok. Up to four weeks to deliver, but at least i know it's on its way.
Having this attached to my camera will allow me to put the body in a plastic bag in bad weather.
I am also interested in some long exposure shots in daylight , so threads for a nd filter are handy.
Having trouble tracking down quality 43mm dia filters though. So if anyone can point me in the right
direction i would be most pleased.

Yes, I had a quick look too and couldn't see any GH-2s listed in the 'usual places' (I bought mine from Morris Photographic but they have none at present).

For 43 mm filters I used the Camera Club at Amazon.co.uk...check out:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_nos ... mm&x=0&y=0

I leave the adapter with a 43 mm UV on the camera all the time and have set it to stay on for ages so that once on the lens is deployed it stays out - I think this is a good compromise between protection and portability.

You have the GH-2 in stock in all the european Amazons including .co.uk (cheaper in .de or .es). If you want quality fixed NDs Schneider (B+W):
https://www.schneideroptics.com/Ecommer ... x?CID=1231
I you want variable NDs, Singh-Ray, Genus or LightCraft Workshop. Not sure about 43mm but you can always use one of those cheap Kenko adapters "stepping ring" to change diameter and buy a more standard size of filter...
Hope this helps.

Amazon was my first port of call. Tried it twice. Both times the order was accepted, then followed emails to say they were no longer in stock.
All the others on the Amazon list were far to much money . I was only prepared to go up to £50 Ricoh branded. Still far too much imo.
I found 3 stop and 10 stop B&W. Special order from Robert White and up to 6 to 8 weeks for delivery, and a massive £60 !
I've not checked out variables yet. I shall do that now. Thanks.

Thanks for the links. I had considered the rest of the EU. But postage & perhaps paypal or os transaction charges bring it very close
if not over my buget.

I'm in the market for a genuine Ricoh GH-2 for my GRD iv also.
I got burnt with the JJC once for the GX100. Don't know what thread it had in it.
Sure it fitted the camera OK, but a 43mm adapter lens or filter wouldn't screw in.
Only the other day I was a thinking I maybe able to modify it for tilt shift with a
37mm threaded lens like a DW-4 or GW-1. We will see.
So after that incident, I've tried to purchase genuine Ricoh gear when I can.
Just had a look on the Ebay worldwide & they are pricy. The Ricoh stuff is a hard
sturdy expensive plastic. Where the JJC is a softer, inexpensive flexible plastic.

Ok. My JJC one is on its way. But at £20 It will be ok for hood and protection, even if the thread is wrong (pitch, most likely)
If that is the case, my brother can fix that for me.
I will be sure to give the JJC a review when i get it.

Albert. Could not resist the call of a genuine Ricoh set, so i ordered from Amazon Spain.
It came out as 56.38 euro's. When the JJC one arrives i will be able to compare the two.
Many thanks for the links.
