Thanks for notifying this.

Am I reading the entry criteria right which says - 'Images with aspect ratios of 1:1, 3:2, or 16:9 are acceptable for submission.' I presume this means that these ratios are permitted, as well as 4:3. What do you think?

as dumb as this sounds, but can someone post sample pictures of "radiance." im having trouble figuring out what that means eventhough i already looked it up in dictionary.

I Googled "radiance pictures" today, and here are a couple of useful links where you can see examples of "radiant" photographs.
http://www.fotosearch.com/photos-images/radiance.html
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=radia ... d=0CCoQsAQ

The second link unfortunately also contains pictures for advertising purposes, but you can still get the idea from the other pictures.

I think radiance could also include things that are symbolic of radiance - so not just a lighting feature in the picture (which would be the literal interpretation of radiance), but, say, a 'radiant' smile, or a pregnant belly shot, where the pregnant woman emanates 'radiance', or a couple who are enjoying a special moment together, where their facial expressions give a feeling of 'radiance' to the picture. I could be stretching it a bit, however, so it's probably safer to stick to the literal meaning and make an element of lighting the feature of the picture.
Cheers, Athena.

Google translates the Japanese title as "Sparkle" and yahoo babelfish as "Shining". And here is a full set of possible translations (as taken from here http://dictionary.sensagent.com/%E8%BC% ... %8D/ja-en/):
after-glow, brightness, brilliance, brilliancy, effulgence, flamboyance, flamboyancy, glamour (British), gleam, gleaming, glint, glisten, glister, glitter, glow, lambency, light, luminosity, luster, lustre, radiance, radiancy, refulgence, refulgency, scintillation, shimmer, shine, sparkle, splendidness, splendor, splendour, twinkle

Thanks, Pavel,
this widens my horizons a little! I think the notion of the Japanese translation though, was a good tip! :)
