Hello, pleased to be on the forum .

Reason being... have just purchased a used RICOH GRD + GC-2 GH-1 GV-1 GW-1 GS-1 5 batteries 2x SD cards all boxed and for what i believe is a reasonable 200 euro's, it will arrive in a few days and am much looking forward to receiving.
I spent some time (3 weeks) deciding what to go for, could have been a Canon G9/10 , my friend has a 10 so could test, but didn't enjoy it, is bit of a chunk and seemed faffy, course that could have been because i wasn't used to it still, didn't feel 'happy' if you know what i mean, all seemed so numeric. Also on the list was Nikon P1500, but only saw a couple for sale, dont like bidding wars, bit serious, guess there popular, again looked a little off kilter . Also the Sigmas were well up there, lovely images from what i've seen, but as the DP1 has those lense problems, and again are perhaps too large for my needs, left it, but it was a close race with the GRD, like those rustic B&whites, handy pocket size, solid build, great reviews/following.... and happy feeling, 'i get that when i look at it' never, handled one

there we are, am no great camera king, got and old Rollei 35s i enjoy, and have been using a Casio Exilim 7 megapix for the last 3 years (thats the pic)

Any tips... would be pleased to hear them .

Hi Khortal and welcome on the board! You got your GRD for a fantastic price! GRDI is still worth to own camera for its unbeatable B&W engine. There maybe some disappointments (like not great LCD viewing angles and possible problem with ADJ wheel freezing). But otherwise, it's still great camera. Keep us posted with photos!

Also thankyou for the tips included, the LCD i wouldn't be too worried about, as will prefer using the viewfinder, am unsure about the ADJ wheel, though did find mention of it when gathering info, i remember (i think it here) that saw perhaps it was on the earlier model that mostly had this problem, but i am unsure, i think i have the later model, seems to be more of a matt black/grey colour, earlier being glossy black ?, also noticed that they suffer from dust on the sensor, i asked this question to the seller and apparently mine is ok, didn't ask how many photo's had been taken as understand that it is possible to find the information through the menu, it being sold with five batteries could mean something, i will wait and see

Yes i would like to show you how it performs, it is an older camera now, i know i could have gone with something a little more modern, but 4-5 years shouldn't be old,at least.. it wasn't with SLR's/35mm

Today i received my GRD and accessories, i am most pleased, all arrived boxed like new, all is working perfectly, the manuals look unread, i checked the pic counter by using the instructions found on this forum, the camera showed 1788, as for the condition i would say this is correct.
Now for getting used to it, for quick access to settings.... the ADJ button is most impressive

Yes ...as said, all is in perfect condition the guy who sold the GRD to me buys and sells cameras , he also does camera exchange, My GRD was taken to him for exchange i believe, i did think that as it was for sale with 5 batteries and sold to me at such a good price that it would have had good use, obviously this is not the case, all is as new, perhaps some fellow has lots of cameras, so many he can't make his mind up which to use, a little like a lady who buys a new dress every day, they only wear each one of them a few times, then forget about them, perhaps this is like the guy who owns so many cameras .... but who knows , all are happy

I would like to use this opportunity to welcome Khortal to our forum. I am of the view that he is lucky to get a Ricoh GRD for 200 Euros. I am happy to note that he has made the right decision by purchasing Ricoh. I have used Nippon for five years and Canon for more than 10 years. They don’t come anywhere near Ricoh when it comes to performance. I liked the snap but I would like to point out it is not that clear.

Hello Kinley, very fine of you to welcome me to this most appealing forum, i am happy to be here amongst such pleasing company

the little Ricoh GRD is perfect for my uses and i am already enjoying it immensly, perhaps you have seen something in my B&W image regarding clarity, could tell me more information as i am just becoming friendly with the camera and so learning how it reacts under different lighting condition it is possible the images are not so perfect, appreciated
