Belatedly, I wanted to thank Kaver and AustinOH for their samples and help in deciding whether to buy a GRD4.

I had planned to post the processed versions of their samples but I wasn't too happy with the results I was getting and then work got crazy. In the meantime I pressed buy on a £200 reconditioned and boxed (i.e new) demo model. So long story short I processed some files in order to better compare the GRDI and the GRDIV image processing. Here's the results:

My final thoughts are that the GRDI JPG is hands down better at B&W processed high ISO. The GRDIV can only be used in RAW (but its' so fast that does not matter). The GRDIV has a weird mesh-like square noise pattern built-in to the RAW that is hard to get rid of (see cropped image at end). But using ISO 3200 and with diligent processing I managed to get something close to what I like. I think I can work with it and may prefer to use the GRDIV for high ISO colour work, which I will work on in the future.

GRD I at ISO 1600. Colour JPG. B&W processed:

well I love the GRD I shot. Compared to the GRDIV it is amazing.
But the lightning seems quite different. Or did you process it in another way?
and I agree, ISO noise is strange...
