Oooh thats very exciting, looks like I've now got two cameras to put on ebay!

I like the Eye-fi link up eyedea (see what I did there ;) ) & i'm oddly attracted to the wooden grip! :D

I must admit to being really taken with the wood-effect hand grip...not an often-seen camera custom feature IMHO! :ugeek:
And the white...wow! Much to nice to take out into the real world though...
However as I am GXR-less at the moment (away for warranty repair on it's screen) I opted for an emergency fix of a nice wee discounted GRDIII :D
So, for now, I think I will just have to pretent that the GRDIV launch is a hoax...
Cheers!

I too like the appearance of the wooden grip! I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this ;) I will have to ask Ricoh folks if this grip replacement service will be available also to us non-Japanese folks or if we will be able to buy the grip and replace it myself?

Ah, VR! Exactly the feature I kept asking myself why they did not put into the GRD III.
And the composite startrail image looks great! I was also experimenting with long exposures with the GRD III, but this one here blew me away.
Now what should I do? GRD IV looks so tempting, but the Fuji X10 is also nice...(and I really could make use of the longer focal lengths as I only have the GRD III's 28mm equivalent)

Glad to see it has image VR, lost a few handheld macro shots in the past!

Quick question. Do you think the GL-1 (Metal Lens Cap) will fit on the front of the III? This would appear to be a way to keep dust out.

A good question. As the lens is much the same design there is a chance it will. On the GRD IV The lens cap can be set to power up the camera but on the III it could offer additional dust protection while in a pocket.

Yes, the GL-1 will work with the GRDIII as well, including the power lock feature. You will just have to update your GRDIII with upcoming FW.

Quote:

Improved AF speed and accuracy due to the introduction of the Hybrid AF system

The camera comes newly equipped with Ricoh's independently developed external AF sensor, which has a maximum of 190 AF points. Through the Hybrid AF System, which is used in parallel with the conventional CCD contrast AF, Ricoh has realized an AF focusing time as short as 0.2 seconds, as much as half that of the GR DIGITAL III.

Also, algorithm refinements have led to improvements in the AF speed for macro shots that are taken using only the CCD contrast AF method for a maximum reduction of half the time of the previous model.

am unsure here.. but believe this idea was used in the GRD1 and perhaps another but then was stopped for later Ricoh's including the GRD111 , if so is this idea / "re-introduction" the same as is in the GRD1 or is it an improved version of ?

Cheers Kort .
