My camera wont turn on?

Hey Guys,

I just bought a GR2 and it won't turn on?

I put in a charged battery press the power switch, a green light flashes once at the front...the nothing happens..

Any ideas?

Can you try to set the mode dial to 'Scene', press the down zoom button and the down arrow then hold the Play button and see if the camera powers on and shows you the firmware version. Also try to see if it works with some AAA batteries, maybe the battery you have is faulty.

Tried it, nothing happens...Very strange

I would also take out the SD card in case it has a fault - unlikely I know, but worth a try.

No cigar, I guess the only thing I can do is send it in for a repair?

Did you bought it new or used? Did you try the AAA batteries as suggested Cristian? I would try to recharge the battery and try it once again. But leave the battery inside for at least an hour or so before trying to turn it ON.

I bought it used, but it was working fine when I received it and the seller has a good record...How long are the warranties on the GRD2

The GRD warranties are 2 years so you ahve another 2 months to send it in without any questions asked, afterwards it depends when the camera was bought.

Too bad. It may be either the camera or battery problem. But if you tried the AAA batteries and with the same result, it's most probably the camera problem.

The length of warranty usually depends on the country of purchase. But I believe worldwide is one year? The best thing you can probably do is to contact Ricoh with question if your camera is still covered by warranty or not. Just follow the support contacts according your region:

I tried out the AAAs with the same result. The camera is in perfect shape, i'm sure it will go smoothly with the warranty. Only problem is that I live in Australia and the seller is from the US...Hopefully I can work something out with the local distributor! Worst case I'll ship it back to America and have the seller forward it back to me.
