I don't know what this is. Maybe some one on this Ricoh forum knows what this is.
It lives
Under ground
Beneath pavers
Eating tree roots
Ejects tree root to surface
Never seen

They are big bite size chunks to be bought to the surface.
Bit by bit.

Being wood and not seen the most obvious answer is Termites.
But I do not know. :?

The grains are so big I would suggest more likely wasps?...

What ever the little beastie is. It's hole is just big enough to push this excreata to the surface.
Had a lot of rain lately. They have burrowed in & gone quiet. I hope its wasps. Or those itty bitty brown ants.
Will keep an eye on it to see who lives there.
