I am in Australia visiting relatives so I joined them in the Australia Day festivities here in Bunbury WA. Not as big a place as Perth or Sydney but they put on a jolly good fireworks display. I had my GXR/P10 with me and took a few snaps - handheld as I did not have a tripod with me.

Thank you all very much for your kind words :D . Mainiac: Thank you to you and your wife - the picture is very cute ;) .

As for the fireworks - well, I don't really do anything for Australia Day anyway, and I don't go to the fireworks here in Sydney. Crowds, transport, etc., are a bit of a nightmare, and besides, my poor dog needs me at home as he is scared of the fireworks noise. Like Tim, I can hear them from my place, even though the city is app. 40 minutes train ride away (or about 30 kms away).

Ayewing - you did a good job with the pic ;) . Glad you had a great Aus Day with your relatives :) .
Cheers, Athena.

Well, I'm a bit late, but - Happy Australia Day! I'm sure the Aussies know how to celebrate!
I was really awed by the Olympics opening ceremony last time they were down under - only saw it on TV, but it was amazing.

Thanks very much quester and Gab ;) :) .

Quester - yes, the opening ceremony was really amazing - I watched it on TV also. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the gymnastics finals as I live in Sydney, so I was able to afford to go. Lost interest in the Olympics nowadays though...but still, I was quite into it at the time, and will always treasure the memories of when the Olympics came to Sydney. I was glued to the TV every day during those two weeks, watching every type of sport I normally wouldn't watch before, really getting into the spirit of the whole event, even though I was (and am) not a very sporty person.
Cheers, Athena.
