Safe External Flash for GRD

I find myself needing flash sometimes now, more than the onboard can provide.
The Ricoh recommended Sigma flashes are huge, bigger than the Camera.
I have seen mentions in various forums about a Metz 20 or 28 CS-2.
are these or any other flashes safe to use with my beloved GRD?

Have been using the Hanica sensor flash on the GX100 without any problem.
It could be used in the GRD too. The Metz 32Z-1 also does well with the GX100
though the size of the flash is much bigger.

I ended up ordering the Sigma ef-500 DG Sttl, one of the Ricoh recommended ones giving TTL flash metering.
Does that Hanica cover 28mm?

Glad you got your external flash for your GRD.
The Hanica covers 24mm, works beautifully on the GX100, so there isn't any problem with the GRD.
Moreover the flash syn can go as high as 1/650 sec or higher with the GX100.

This is my first post here but have been keeping an eye on this site for GRD II news and it does show up here quite quickly. I have been
posting on the Richo board at DPR. I do not yet have a Ricoh but am on the waiting list for a GRD II.

I was wondering if old Ricoh flashes would work on the GRD/GRD II. I have seen some for sale but have hesitated due to the voltage issue.
That Sigma is just too big but the ttl is a big deal maker. I'm hoping my small Olympus FL-20 will work. Searched for the Hanica but to no avail.

Since the hotshoe has only one single contact point any old or new flash unit
with the same feature should be able to work on both the GRD and the GX.
Attached my Metz 32Z-1 with bounced facility on the GX100, it works great.
Will try some other older flash units and post the result here.

Looks good, just be careful, some older flashes have wasy high trigger voltages that might damage you camera.
I know the older Vivitar 283s can damage my old Hexar AF and I suspect the GRD/GX100's as well!

The Hanica packing has a instruction leaflet giving the model as F-2000.
The flash unit itself just below the name "Hanica" is the model number in red "F-2000"
Would have to do a thorough search with search engines pointing towards sites in Taiwan, HongKong, Bangkok
and China under electronic flash or flash photographic equipment.

Bought the flash some years ago at the local photo retail shop for less than S$40.00
The unit uses two AA batteries and it claims can be used as a slave unit too.

Anyone know if a canon speedlite is safe to use? Specifically, i have a 420EX.
