At first a bit grumpy but later he 'forgot' me during the discussion about model boats, Sicily and life in general......

Another wonderful picture - super 'half' lighting of the face with an animated gesture too and great compostion with loads of detail in the floor tiles and table - a top GRD shot!

Great shot...really like this one Silverbullet. The lighting, toning, moment of capture, and especially subject. (I've spent a quite few years boatbuilding: designed and built a 1m model yacht and built many 'big boys toys' up to 70ft.) This old fella looks like he's been at it all his life....wonderful! :D
Attached photo, hope you don't mind.

Thanks guys for your nice statements!
But it's easy to ge this scenery when there is strong light from a window or door. That's already 85% of the job, the additional 10% is to enter this place and to start some conversation without speaking Italian.......scusi ;-)

My friend Hans speaks fluently this language and he translated a bit, so the rest of 5% is the effort of the cam and me....... I'm always dreaming about those dark places with working people, tools and more or less low light in the corners and a beam of sunlight.

@ Marcus:

What a nice sailboat! Looks like a modern hull with lots of plane surface near the stern for gliding in stronger winds (the bigger brothers)

For more than 7 years I work for the biggest german speedboat builder. He was one of the best raceboat drivers in the 60s in proprider and other outboard engine driven boats.
When in 1973 my windsurfing begun, he invented shortly after this date the rubber universal joint which all windsurfers have until today.
Looking at the McKibbin sail from my Hobie 14 he began to design surfsails with long sailbuttons for a stiffer profile.

@ streetshooter:

Thanks a lot Don, after two months of a non-camera-syndrom the short visit near Palermo gave me the input to 'see' more. Your statement is really appreciated.

to @ Have a nice Easter Holiday!

Thanks for your reply Silverbullet :D ....seems we have a bit in common. I gained my 'apprenticeship' with one of Australia's most well known and respected speedboat builders in the 70's. Went on to teaching a few years later, but recently(6 yrs ago) went back to building boats, this time yachts. In my youth I raced( and built) skiffs and catamarans. Both my parents were into windsurfing, me less so.
Thanks for sharing a little of your interesting past. ;) :D
Included are a couple more images.

Marcus, I am very impressed. My only boat building connection is a long pasted second cousin who built a wood cabin cruiser, about 17ft.
I think it got wet once and that was about it. I have fond images from the 70's of it!

Thanks Tim.....ahhh the 70's. :?
I think: If a boat gets wet once it's a boat, otherwise it's an ornament!

Thanks Gab... :D
