2nd Ricoh Forum meet-up - 6.6.2009 - London

Postby odklizec » Wed Apr 08, 2009 4:35 pm

Hi folks,

It's been a while since we met first time, so we (Cristian, Tom and me) think it's about the time to organize 2nd Ricoh Forum meet-up in London.

The last meet-up weather was very cold, windy and rainy, but I'm sure everyone who was there will agree that it was nice meet-up with many interesting chats, cool (in all respects) photo walk, and with many cameras to view and try (but we still did not make the critical mass...maybe this time?:D). The cold weather and busy pre-Christmas time has been the reason why there was nobody from Ricoh, except Mr. Allen from Alpha Digital, who is the main distributor of Ricoh cameras in the UK. This time, however, we believe that there will be at least one person directly from Ricoh! ;)

OK, let's start with some important facts and dates...
Date: Saturday 6.6.2009
Time: 10:00
Place: Camino - see the map
We will wait there for an hour or so. Then you can try to catch us somewhere between the Camino and Queens No1 ;)

For those who can't make the morning meet-up, we added one more meet-up point in the Lockside Lounge in Camden. We should be there between 15:30-16:00.

UPDATED 13.05.09:
As you may know, I love photographing London markets ;) Last time we did the Borrough Market and this time I suggested the Camden Lock and Cristian and Tom prepared the following walk. We will start in Camino, walk along the canal to Camden Lock and walk around the market. If time permits we could continue along the canals to Primrose Hill to take some sunset pictures. We are still not sure about the start, lunch and dinner points, but I'm pretty sure that Cristian and Tom will find the appropriate places ;) The dinner and our final destination should be the Queens No1.

Here is the map of walk:

If you are interested to meet-up with other Ricoh positive folks, please let us know under this post. We just need to know how many people we should expect.

Neat - it's almost possible that I can go. I'll be passing through London the 6th, on my way back to Canada the next day. :)

Ah I only now noticed your post Mark. That's sad. I hoped we can meet and drink a beer or two this time? ;) But of course, family is always first! BTW, say "hello" to Oliver (and his mom of course too)!

I'm really sorry, would love to, but it's impossible to go to London now.

OTOH, I wonder how can anybody organize a photo meeting in a city that starts to be very agressive for individual freedom? We hear horrible stories about photographers harassement every single day!

Have fun, and good luck! ;-)

Maybe next time Rui? ;) I'm sure the situation in London is not as bad as it may seem. And because we are using "pro" cameras masked to "tourists" toys, nobody pays attention to us. This is one of the best things about Ricoh cameras. Nobody expects pro-performance from a soap-box ;)

Just today I got an email from a guy asking me if the photos I posted in one compact camera discussion were really taken with compact camera and not DSLR? And if they really were taken with compact, if it was LX3? :D I'm sure he was quite surprised realizing they were all taken with Ricoh, which is very underestimated brand where I live.

Wow, it is a brand where you live? Fantastic! I'm affraid can't say the same here!

Maybe next time, or another, who knows? ;-)

Have you heard about the greek photographer? And several more news about "protective" laws? We are going to 1984, no doubt!
