In the 19th century you had men called reddlemen who roamed the countryside branding animals like this. Much like they branded steers in the US.

I really like the layers in the second one. The first one is great but I think the sharpness let you down a bit. Its a very good composition though

Yes you are right. I definitely should have used a tripod but didn't have it with me.

I am still impressed with pictures such as these, taken with small sensors.
They are lovely images of a nice part of the country. Not far from me either.
They have tempted me to get over that way soon. Thanks for posting.
