Cult cameras project

Postby radical7 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:09 pm

Hi guys, I am making a website on Cult cameras, and I will need your help!
First thing I need to know is what are the best known cult cameras?
For sure:
- Ricoh GR
- Ricoh GR21
- Ricoh GRD I - II - II - IV
- Epson RD1

what else do you know?

You could add the GR10 for its ease of use. And the R1 for it ability to be modified.

How about the Konica Hexar AF? 35mm F2 lens - very much the film equivalent of the Fuji X100, except that the autofocus was very fast. Even had a 'silent' mode where the motors were slowed down slightly to make much less noise - in that mode if you held the shutter button down, it wouldn't wind on until you released the button (when you had put it inside your jacket to muffle the noise). Had a really intelligent programme mode too, but a top shutter speed of 1/250 s. Still have mine, although will probably sell it in the not too distant future.

If we are talking non Ricoh, there are many.
I would include the Contax T1, T2, T3.

The Ducati Sogno, they had to give them away with the bikes in the end, way too expensive for the times.
Apparently Italian military didnt want to use german cameras. Ducati took their time though and the camera was ready for the end of the war...... The camera now has a price that is way beyond mosth peoples possibilities.

A definition of cult or cult camera at this stage wouldn't go astray.
What one person's cult may just be anthers lust for.
Cameras after all are just tools.
Beautiful tools.

But there ARE cult cameras out there. I just want to do an information site about cult cameras. Basically the cameras that do not seem to die. An example would be the Rioch GRD I, outdated but people still use them. I want to do the website for people to find their companion cameras, nowadays camera manufacturers are ll about more, more ,more features, and you want to junk your camera as soon as the new one is out, I want a website that present cameras that people find themselves irrepleacable. They will always be tools, but some have a little something something extra to them...
